Vaxholm Tourist Office offers two different guided tours. Both take one hour and start in central Vaxholm. Price: 800kr + 60kr/person.

Classic city tour through the city center

The Tourist Office organizes guided walking tours of the city center all year round - past Hotel Waxholm, the old customs house and through the fishermen’s quarters’ winding lanes.  Listen to the guide talk about Vaxholm’s history and narrate anecdotes from days gone by.  You’ll hear a mix of stories about fishermen, soldiers and summer guests. The tour can be given in Swedish or English and takes one hour. Price: 800kr starting fee plus 60kr per person.

​The Defense at Vaxholm

Vaxholm’s history is largely about its military defense. This tour describes the several- hundred-year long period when soldiers were on site and Vaxholm’s most important duty was to defend Stockholm. It starts in central Vaxholm and continues with taking the Swedish Road Association’s ferry over to Rindö. You will then walk up to the Rindö redoubt where you will hear about some of Rindö’s history in addition to the defense history. The tour can be given in Swedish or English and takes one hour. Price: 800kr starting fee plus 60kr per person.
